Functional preferences
When you choose settings or acknowledge the cookie notice, RagnarokSearch stores a cookie named rs_preferences. It remembers your selected Renewal or Pre-Renewal database, color theme, server rate multipliers and whether you have acknowledged the current cookie notice. A notice acknowledgement is not an advertising consent signal. It expires after 180 days, unless you clear it sooner.
The cookie does not contain your name, email address, account or a unique advertising identifier. It is sent only to this site and is not accessible to page scripts.
Accounts and sign-in security
Accounts use one nickname and email address across Renewal and Pre-Renewal. We store these details, account creation and activation times, and a salted password hash in a private database. Passwords are not stored as readable text. Account data is retained while the account exists. Unactivated registrations are removed after seven days during account-request cleanup.
Activation and password-reset emails are sent through OVHcloud Zimbra using noreply@ragnaroksearch.com. Activation links expire after 24 hours; password-reset links expire after one hour. Each link can be used once. Resetting your password signs out existing sessions.
A necessary cookie named __Host-rs_session keeps you signed in for up to seven days. __Host-rs_auth_csrf protects account forms for up to two hours. Both cookies are restricted to this site, are inaccessible to page scripts, and use Secure, HttpOnly and SameSite protection over HTTPS. Signing out invalidates the server session. Local HTTP development uses the same names without the __Host- prefix.
Registration, sign-in and email-link requests use Google reCAPTCHA to limit automated abuse. Google receives browser and network information needed for that check and may set a necessary security cookie. See the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Analytics and advertising tags are not loaded on account pages, and activation and reset pages do not load reCAPTCHA.
Short-lived request counters use keyed hashes of network addresses and account identifiers. Counters expire within an hour and are removed during account-request cleanup. Session and email-link tokens are stored as hashes; expired entries are removed during the same cleanup. You can contact us through the channels on About & contact for account-data requests.
Player guides and likes
Signed-in users can write guides, create categories and attach copies of character builds and skill trees. A draft is stored privately with the account. Publishing makes the title, text, category, game version, class, build snapshots, author nickname and publication dates public. Later draft edits do not change the published version until the author publishes them.
We store one like per account for each guide or public character build. You can remove your own like; public like counts determine the default listing order. Build likes remain after edits or temporary hiding and are removed when the build or the liking account is deleted. Email addresses and private account saves are not exposed by guide pages. Attached builds become public copies only when a guide is published. Guide text, categories and embedded references are retained until removed, and account deletion removes that account's guides and likes. Categories reused by other authors may remain.
Guide editor, draft preview and My guides pages do not load analytics or advertising tags. Published guide pages use the site's usual analytics and advertising configuration. Links written by authors are marked as user-generated content; game embeds link to the selected RagnarokSearch database.
Browser and account saves
The character calculator, skill planner and crafting tools let you choose Browser or Account. Browser saves stay on this device. Account saves are stored privately with your account and can be loaded on another device after signing in. Your choice is remembered separately for each account and tool in this browser. Signing in does not automatically upload browser saves.
Use Manage & transfer saves in a supported tool, or Saved data on your account page, to copy or move selected entries in either direction. Copy keeps the source. Move removes the source after the destination confirms the save. Different matching saves are kept unless you explicitly enable replacement. Browser saves can be accessed by other people using the same browser.
Character and skill builds
Character and skill builds are saved only when you use Save or publish a character. Each account has up to 100 named slots shared across both simulators and game versions. Character builds include class, stats, equipment, cards, skills, pets, buffs and combat settings. Skill builds include classes, skill levels and point settings. The current editor and its selected slot are remembered in this tab through session storage so a reload does not discard your work. Opening or editing a shared setup does not overwrite a named slot; use Save to update it or keep a separate copy. Shared build links continue to use a URL fragment.
Build settings are sent to this site to calculate results and retrieve sprites. Account slots are stored in the private account database. Make Public publishes the current character, including its name, game version, equipment and settings, with your nickname. It creates an account slot if needed. Saving changes to a public slot updates its public version. Make Private hides it while retaining the account slot; deleting that slot removes its publication. Skill builds stay private. Remove individual saves through Saved data or the simulator controls. Unconfirmed changes remain in the tab and can be saved to Browser; they are not silently saved under another signed-in account.
Crafting settings and prices
Crafting tools share saved character stats, crafting skills, calculation options and material prices across their pages. Settings are sent to the site to calculate results. If Account is selected, the crafting setup and optional price book are also saved privately with your account. Calculation links include settings in the URL fragment; they do not include the saved price book.
Browser-only data
Your preferred Renewal or Pre-Renewal database, color theme and server EXP/drop rate multipliers stay in this browser's functional preference cookie. They are not saved or transferred through an account.
Quest checklists, map-layer choices, companion AI configurations and MVP timers also remain exclusively in this browser. Quest checklists store completed step identifiers separately for each guide and game version and do not read your character. Map layers remember NPC, warp and monster visibility. AI settings contain your companions, behavior, tactics and skills. The timer tool and world-map timers share browser saves containing names, maps, server labels, last-kill times and respawn windows. These categories do not appear in account transfers, and the account-save API does not accept them.
Outfit and world-map links
Outfit selections and world-map routes remain encoded in their page URLs. Outfit item IDs, class and gender are sent to this site to retrieve sprites. World-map links contain selected maps, monsters and route endpoints; zoom and map position use a URL fragment. Atlas searches run in your browser.
Account-save retention
Account saves are retained until you delete them or the account is removed. Each individual build or crafting document can contain up to 512 KiB, with an 8 MiB total private-save allowance per account. Saves include an update time and version identifier to prevent silent overwrites between tabs or devices. They are stored outside code releases and game databases, so website updates retain them. New account slots and crafting saves are private. Character slots become public only through Make Public; further explicit saves to a public slot update that publication.
Google Analytics and advertising
RagnarokSearch loads Google Analytics to measure site usage and Google AdSense to display advertising. Google may use cookies and similar technologies and process page URLs, browser and device information, IP addresses and advertising or analytics identifiers for measurement, ad delivery and related purposes. Shared links can include build settings in their URLs.
Google and its partners may serve personalized or non-personalized advertising according to available consent signals and settings. Where a Google consent message is shown, use it to make or change your choices. The site's preference notice and reset button do not replace that consent message.

Search requests go to RagnarokSearch. Following an external source link takes you to that website, which has its own privacy practices.
Server logs
The web server processes the IP address and request information needed to deliver pages and protect the service. Application logs exclude search query strings. The supplied production configuration keeps routine access logging disabled; hosting and security infrastructure may maintain its own operational logs.
Manage your settings
You can delete the RagnarokSearch preference cookie using the button below. Use browser cookie controls to remove Google cookies or other site storage. The site will continue to work with default settings. You can also choose not to save preferences by disabling cookies in your browser.
