BEFORE YOU SET OUT

Pack for the whole quest

A Novice still inside the Training Grounds. Speak to Bruce in the final room before taking Hanson’s test.
Leave room for the test potions, class equipment and tickets.
Reach Job Level 10 and learn Basic Skill 9 before leaving if you want to start your first-job quest immediately. The personality test itself does not promote you.

This is the Pre-Renewal Training Grounds route. Renewal has Cream Puff’s different 30-question Academy test; switch versions for that guide.

At the finish

4 Red Potions, 2 Yellow Potions and 2 Green Potions for completing the test.
Accepting the recommended class grants its weapon, 7 Phracon and Kafra tickets. Class-specific packages are shown with the answer paths below.

Register for Novice training

Talk to Shion outside the castle, then enter and speak to the Receptionist. Type your character’s name exactly and choose “Apply for training.”. Take the interface, skill and item lessons before continuing to combat practice.

The navigation commands use the main training copy. If you start on new_2-1 through new_5-1, Shion is at the same coordinates on your current map; enter the castle to continue.

Prepare for combat and train before leaving

Talk to the Helper, Elmeen, then the Entrance Guard. Accept the combat supplies and enter the field. Equip your training gear, use the supplied potions and train to Job Level 10 if you want to be ready for your class quest. Allocate Basic Skill 9.

Enter the final room and speak to Bruce

When ready, ask the field’s Test Examiner to continue to the final room. Speak to Bruce, hear a class explanation and finish the conversation. Hearing about a class here does not force Hanson’s recommendation.

If you changed training fields, use the examiner on your current map; each sends you to the same final room.

Take Hanson’s test for your chosen class

Speak to Hanson and select “I’ll take the course.”. Choose a class below and follow that entire answer path from question 1 to 22. The answer text matches the menu; the small option number shows its position in that question.

These paths give the chosen class a higher score than every other recommendation. They cover the six original first classes; Hanson does not offer Ninja, Gunslinger or TaeKwon outcomes.

Accept the recommendation and collect your supplies

After question 22, collect the test potions and read the recommendation. Choose the recommended class’s answer - for example “Swordman!” - to receive its equipment package and the transport.

“My own choice!” still lets you choose a class, but gives an Adventurer’s Suit and five of each storage/transport ticket instead of the recommended-class weapon package. Finish the conversation in one visit so you receive the reward and reach your destination.

Continue with the first-job quest

You arrive near the selected guild as a Novice. The Training Grounds test is finished; changing profession is a separate quest. Use the matching job-change guide linked in your class answer card for the application and final promotion.

Finish your training and collect the supplies before accepting the transport. The normal route does not take you back into the Training Grounds.
