You first have to melt the ore to use for the weapon. And the best way to get high purity metal is to melt materials that are of the same kind.

For example, Iron Ore, Iron, and Steel are of similar property so you can get a high purity metal out of them.

Once you've melted a high purity metal, pour it in a mold to get the shape of the weapon and then make it firm through grinding and tempering.

By the way, you will get the best results by thoroughly rotating, grinding and tempering.
